The branch's Cider Pub of the Year award (Cider POTY) was introduced in 2015.

It is an award made to recognise the pub in the branch area that is considered to be doing the most to promote the availability of real cider. Each year the branch's Cider POTY will be entered for the West Pennines Regional Cider POTY award. See West Pennines Cider POTY Winners.

The Cider POTY is chosen by those present at CAMRA Central Lancashire committee meetings. Previously nominations can be accepted from local CAMRA members, with a shortlist of candidates being drawn up for consideration.
