Last month it was reported that judging was currently taking place to determine the CAMRA Central Lancashire branch's overall Pub of the Year for 2026 from a shortlist of four Area Pub of the Year winners.

Well the judging is over and it can now be revealed that the Malt 'n' Hops in Chorley is the branch's Pub of the Year for 2026. Having been the Runner-Up in each of the previous three years, it is an award that is long overdue for this popular pub near the railway station. Incidentally the Runner-Up on this occasion was the Winckley Street Ale House in Preston, a pub that was also the branch's Pub of the Season as recently as Autumn 2025.

A branch social is to be held at the Malt 'n' Hops on Thursday January 22nd, when there will be a presentation of the Pub of the Year 2026 certificate.
