August meeting and social

Monday 1 August 2022

August has seen CAMRA Central Lancashire branch active with both a meeting and a social taking place. First there was a committee meeting which took place on August 8th at the Moorbrook, Preston, this being the pub that had been the birthplace of the branch in June 1973. Following the business part of the meeting, the recently retired George Lee Memorial Trophy shield was handed over to Moorbrook general manager Richard Fisher Godwin, and it is the intention that the trophy will be put on permanent display at the pub. Later in the month, on August 25th there was a branch social held to visit a selection of pubs in Preston. Meeting out-of-town at the Tap End, Ashton there was a presentation, with the pub having been chosen as the branch's Best New Cask Outlet winner for 2022, the first time that this award had been made. Following this important matter those present made their way to the Plug & Taps in Preston, where they joined other local CAMRA members out for the night attending the branch social.
