Campaign for Real Ale

Chairman's Message

Welcome to Central Lancs CAMRA!

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) promotes real ale and publicises where it can be enjoyed, attempting to improve quality and choice. It also fights to save pubs and breweries from closure, and to preserve the character of the traditional British pub with all its cultural, historical and architectural aspects.

Central Lancs CAMRA is the local organization that promotes these objectives in the Preston, Chorley, and South Ribble Council areas, plus the Longridge and Chipping areas.

We do this with a newsletter, Ale Cry which is distributed freely through local pubs 4 times a year, by campaigns agreed upon at branch meetings, and trips to real ale pubs in the more outlying parts of the branch area.

We also select pubs within the branch area for CAMRA's national Good Beer Guide, make awards to Pubs of the Season, and the annual George Lee Memorial Trophy, and hold a variety of trips to breweries in the north of England and social events.

Branch Activities

Within the Central Lancs branch area, at the last count there were over 1200 CAMRA members, but we only ever see a handful of you at CAMRA functions or events in the area.

Whether you are a long-established member, or have just joined CAMRA, we would love to see more of you at branch meetings. You will be made very welcome and may find you want to get more actively involved. The venues for meetings are listed on the Meetings page of this site. Just turn up!

If it is more convenient to come to a Committee meeting nearer to where you live, please do. Any member can attend and observe.

If you would like to come on any of our trips, please book a place with Adrian Smith on moc.liamg@namyttara (tel. 07495 448555) to make sure there is room for everyone.

News and Queries

If you have any queries about CAMRA, or any news of local pubs, breweries etc, then please e-mail the Branch Contact and we will get back to you. See the Branch Contacts page.

Cheers.

Adrian Smith (Chairman)
