Just published is Ale & Hearty 83, the Autumn/Winter 2025 edition of the CAMRA Southport & West Lancashire branch magazine. This is the first edition of Ale & Hearty to be produced for nearly two years.

Normally we would not report the appearance of a neighbouring CAMRA branch's magazine, but with the branch boundaries recently having changed it seems an appropriate time to highlight this welcome re-launch of their magazine. Filled with plenty of interesting articles, these include - a good write-up on the 'fresh ale' confusion; a detailed report of a recent branch trip to Heswall; plus a look back to the 1996 Good Beer Guide. Also of particular interest is an article on Award Winning Pubs, with Ralph's Wife's at Banks being recognised as their West Lancashire Pub of the Year for 2025.

Copies of Ale & Hearty 83 will be found in many of the pubs in the West Lancashire portion of our branch area.
