This pub closed in May 1992, and was converted into a rest home.

It was the location of the New Fermor Arms Brewery, with brewing taking place at the pub from 1976 to 1992, although this was not continuous. For a time the brewery name was Blezards, and there were connections with Tetley Brewery. The most famous beer produced was Fettlers Ale.

While it existed the New Fermor Arms was located in the CAMRA Central Lancashire branch area. However if it was still in existence it would now come under the jurisdiction of CAMRA Southport & West Lancashire branch.
