Discovering Lancashire Pubs Book
A new book is being launched in October 2023 about the Pubs of Lancashire. It details and, widely illustrates, over 110 pubs in Lancashire around Leyland. The book is planned to be the first of a series of books covering Lancashire and will retail at just £9.50; a great stocking filler for anyone interested in the history of the pubs in this area. It is a detailed study of the pubs, past and present, in the western area of the Leyland Hundred and the villages/towns included are Appley Bridge, Bispham, Bretherton, Charnock Richard, Clayton-le-Woods, Croston, Eccleston, Farington, Hesketh Bank, Heskin, Hoole, Hutton, Leyland, Longton, Lostock Hall, Mawdesley, Mere Brow, Midge Hall, Parbold, Penwortham, Rufford, Runshaw, Shaw Green, Tarleton, Ulnes Walton, Walmer Bridge and Wrightington.
About the author: David Bretherton was born and raised in Croston and grew up knowing many of the pubs covered in the book. He now lives in Oxfordshire and travelled frequently to Lancashire to carry out research for the book.
