Eighteenth-century inn close to the Longridge reservoirs on the road to Ribchester, handy for local walks. This free house has a reputation for excellent ale, food, service and accommodation. Four handpumps serve beers sourced mainly from local breweries; Bowland, Saltaire and Moorhouse's are some of the favourites. Real cider available during summer months. There is an annual beer festival on the spring bank holiday weekend. Note the horse trough outside, reputedly used by Oliver Cromwell to water his horse on the way to the Battle of Preston.
