See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Attractive stone built pub in quiet village. There is a cosy bar/dining area with slate floor. The pool table is in it's own room and does not intrude. There are decking areas to the front and rear and a large secluded rear garden. Food dominates with upstairs Steakhouse restaurant and produce being sourced locally if possible. Food hours apply to bar only; the restaurant being open 12-2.30 and 6.30-9. Normally five real ales are available, with four from the local Three B's brewery. Apart from the King James - brewed for the pub and commemorating King James I, who is reputed to have knighted a joint of beef at the nearby Hoghton Tower - all the other beers change regularly.
