A former Boddington's house that was built in 1985 to replace the (Old) Sumners Hotel which stood adjacent to the present building and was demolished as part of a road widening scheme. (see LAW/16959).

Close to Preston football ground and football fan friendly for home and away fans. Good reputation for home cooked food. Live sports shown on large screen. Tetley Bitter may be badged as Sumners Ale.

July 2018 saw bulldozers move onto the Sumner's site clearing trees from the car park and in August a demolition notice was served confirming the site is now to be redeveloped.
