A Grade II listed building dating from the late C18 and early C19, this was originally the Grapes Hotel. It is believed to have held the local courtroom upstairs and still retains a room with original cell bars. It is in a prime position on the main street through the village opposite the ancient parish church and pack horse bridge over the River Yarrow. Following a lengthy period of closure and refurbishment the Black Rabbit opened in May 2026 as a boutique hotel, restaurant and bar. Cask ale features with three handpumps on the bar.
