This Matthew Brown pub stood at the corner of Cambridge Street and Hammond Street, just across the road from the Princess Alice. It was closed c.1980 and subsequently demolished and houses built on the site.

The photograph shows a typical street corner Lion Ales pub with only the sign above the door giving any clue to the brewery.
