A Matthew Brown house that closed in 2009. As of 2015, the pub remains boarded up with the hanging sign still in evidence. Originally part of a terrace that included houses and the South Meadow Tavern, by the time our main picture was taken all the adjoining properties had been demolished. The pub still supports the MB livery and signs. (Photo Jim Holderness). A second colour picture (Tony Hills) is towards the end of the pubs existence with pub co signage and no evidence of the former owners. The black and white picture comes from the excellent historical website Preston Inns, Taverns & Beer Houses (http://pubsinpreston.blogspot.co.uk) and shows the original terrace with the South Meadow Tavern towards the left of the picture and the Cricketers Arms about 5 doors down on the same side.
