Originally known as the Cattle Market Tavern when built c.1870, the pub's name changed to the Imperial around 1898. In recent years the pub was known as Times Square but then changed back to being The Imperial. Following a period of closure in 2021-22 it reopened in May 2022 as Mr Tickle's Bar, a late night venue branded as an 80s/motown and northern soul bar. A large single-roomed town centre pub with bar serving three distinct drinking areas. No cask ale is currently served.
